Mother’s Day Reflection

A Mother’s Day reflection in a time when a woman’s agency over her body is in question:

Something I noticed when I was pregnant was how many others who were pregnant were also having boys. Just thinking back on that time now I came up with six examples in about three seconds.

Looking back a few more years, I see an overwhelming amount of women proudly proclaiming #boymom status, including Desmond’s auntie Nicole who has three boys under five and is my ultimate inspiration at how to rock at motherhood.

I shared my reflection here with her this week: I think God is course correcting, and doing so in the way that’s bound to right the ship - by leaving it to the women. We have been called to raise a kinder, more compassionate, less ignorant and less fearful generation of men.

So a special Mother’s Day wish to my fellow boy mommas taking part in this revolution. And to the our girl mommas raising the trailblazing, hell-raising women that’ll continue to lead the charge.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
